Nirvaana with ChatGPT: your ChatGPT plan, now with a body
The short answer
ChatGPT is a very good brain. It can explain a hard topic, check your reasoning, draft a paragraph and quiz you for a test. What it does not have, on its own, is a body: your classes, your due dates, the promises you made, and a memory of how your week is going.
Nirvaana is that body. It is not trying to be a better ChatGPT. It is the part that already knows your school life, so the AI you already pay for can start from the right place instead of from a blank chat.
What "a body for the brain" means
Think of the AI in your chat window as a brain. It is sharp, and it knows a lot about the world. But each time you open a fresh chat, it knows nothing about you. It cannot see that your problem set is due Friday, that you told your lab partner you would send the outline, or that you have two exams in the same week.
A body gives a brain four things:
- Your classes and deadlines. Connect Canvas and each class arrives with its files, its facts and every due date.
- Memory. Tomorrow it still knows what you told it today.
- Promises. What you owe people, and what people owe you, kept in view until it is done.
- Hands. When you say yes, it can do things for you: add a reminder, post to a class group, move a deadline.
Nirvaana supplies those. ChatGPT supplies the thinking.
Who ChatGPT is for
ChatGPT is a general assistant you talk to. You bring a question, a paragraph, a problem set or a half-formed idea, and it helps. Students use it to understand a hard concept, brainstorm a paper topic, check their work or practice for a test.
At the time of writing (October 2026), OpenAI's docs list Free, Go at $8 a month, Plus at $20 a month, and Pro from $100 a month. Prices change and can differ by country, so check OpenAI's pricing page before you buy.
What ChatGPT is great at
- Learning a topic from scratch. ChatGPT has a study mode, which OpenAI describes as building understanding instead of handing over answers. OpenAI's help pages say it is offered on all ChatGPT plans.
- Breadth. If you want to ask about a chemistry mechanism, a cover letter and a dinner idea in the same hour, a general assistant is built for that.
- Memory across chats. ChatGPT has a memory feature. Check OpenAI's help pages for what each plan includes.
- Reach. It runs on the web, on phones, and as a desktop app on Mac (check OpenAI's site for other computers).
If your goal is "teach me this," ChatGPT is a strong choice, and Nirvaana does not try to take that job from it.
What Nirvaana adds
Your classes come in on their own. Connect Canvas and each class you take arrives with its files, its facts and every due date. Nirvaana only reads Canvas. The files are kept on your computer.
"Catch me up." Type those words any morning and it tells you what is due, the late things first.
Promises, both ways. Tell it what you promised, in your own words. It keeps each promise in view until it is done. It also remembers the ones people made to you. Today shows what you owe and what you are owed.
Worlds you can share without oversharing. A world is one part of your life with the people in it: a class, a club, a team. Your own world is yours alone. Nothing from it goes into a shared world until you press Approve.
It asks before anything outward. Nirvaana is built to stop before it sends, posts, pays, signs or deletes, and hand it to you. The check is automatic and not perfect, so keep an eye on things that matter.
Your notes and files, searchable. Brain keeps your notes and files on your computer, so you can find them again later.
Notebooks. Python and writing on one page, run on your own computer. You can open any notebook in VS Code whenever you like.
Giving your ChatGPT a body
You can add Nirvaana to ChatGPT, so the chat you already use can see your world. The setup is a few steps, and Nirvaana's help page walks through them:
- In ChatGPT's settings, open Apps and add Nirvaana. Your plan, or your school's or workspace's admin, may need to allow custom apps first.
- Sign in to Nirvaana and press Allow. Nothing connects without you.
- In a ChatGPT chat, turn Nirvaana on, then ask it what worlds you are in.
After that, you can ask ChatGPT things like "what is due this week?" or "remind me Thursday to send Maya the outline," and it answers from your world. The thinking is ChatGPT's, on the plan you already have. The knowing is Nirvaana's.
A few things stay the same. ChatGPT reads what you can read and nothing more. New facts it passes along are read by Nirvaana before it keeps any of them. When your AI wants to do something for you, it waits for your Approve by default, and what it did shows up in Activity, where most things can be undone for a day.
It works the other way too. Connect your ChatGPT plan when you set up the Mac app, and Nirvaana does its heavy work on that plan. Each result says where it ran, for example "Ran on your ChatGPT plan." One honest limit: Nirvaana's own chat has its own daily allowance on Nirvaana, apart from your plan. If Claude is your main AI instead, see Nirvaana with Claude.
A day with both
Say you are Dana, a sophomore who already opens ChatGPT every day. This is an example, not a real user story.
8:30 a.m. Dana opens Nirvaana and types "Catch me up." Her stats problem set is due Friday, a lab report is late, and she promised her study group a summary of chapter 6.
10:00 a.m. She switches to ChatGPT with Nirvaana turned on and asks it to quiz her on chapter 6. It knows which chapter her class is on, because it can see her world.
10:45 a.m. She says, "Good, I'll send that summary to the group tonight." Nirvaana keeps the promise in view.
9:00 p.m. Today shows the summary is still owed. She writes it, approves the message to the group, and it is done.
She did not re-explain her classes to ChatGPT, and she did not forget the promise.

What stays private
On the Nirvaana side: we do not train on your world. We sell nothing and share nothing for advertising. Your own world is yours alone, and a shared world is shared only with its people. You can download your world or delete your account from Settings. Read more on the privacy page. For ChatGPT, read OpenAI's own privacy and data controls, since your chats there are theirs to handle.
Who should do what
- Keep ChatGPT for learning, drafting and asking questions. That is its job, and it is good at it.
- Add Nirvaana if what slips is Canvas, due dates and promises, or if you are tired of explaining your week to a blank chat.
- Use them together if you want one to think and the other to remember.
