Nirvaana vs Notion AI: which is better for students?
The short answer
Notion AI is an assistant that lives inside your Notion workspace. Nirvaana is an assistant that keeps track of your classes, deadlines and promises. If most of your life is already in Notion pages, Notion AI is natural. If your worry is forgetting things that live in Canvas, texts and your head, Nirvaana is closer to that.
One honest note up front: at the time of writing (October 2026), Notion's pricing page shows only limited AI trials on its Free and Plus plans. Fuller access is on Business. Read the cost section below before you plan around it.
What Notion AI is now
Notion describes Notion AI as a built-in assistant that works inside your pages, docs, tasks and databases. When it is on, it uses context from your workspace and from apps you connect.
Based on Notion's own product page, it includes:
- Notion Agent: chat-based help for multi-step jobs, like creating and editing pages and databases.
- Custom Agents: agents that run recurring work on a schedule or a trigger, such as answering questions in Slack or routing tasks.
- Enterprise Search: finds answers across your workspace and connected apps like Slack, Google Drive and GitHub.
- AI Meeting Notes: transcribes conversations and summarizes the key points.
- Research mode: detailed reports and summaries.
- Writing and database help: drafts and edits in a page, plus database creation, autofill and formulas.
Notion also says access may be temporarily reduced based on usage.
What it costs and which plan has it
At the time of writing (October 2026), from Notion's pricing page:
- Free and Plus: limited trials of Notion Agent, Meeting Notes, Enterprise Search and Research mode. Plus is $10 per member per month.
- Business: full access to Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes and Enterprise Search. Business is $20 per member per month on monthly billing.
- Custom Agents: on Business and Enterprise, using Notion credits. Check Notion's pricing page for the current credit prices.
Notion does not list a separate Notion AI price on its AI page. It is included in Business and Enterprise.
What about the free student plan? Notion's Education Plan page does not mention AI. So do not assume it is included. Check Notion's pricing page and your own workspace before you count on it.
Who Notion AI is for
Notion AI suits you if your notes, projects and plans already live in Notion. It can tidy a messy page, draft from what you wrote, summarize a long document, or build a database without you doing it by hand. Teams on Business plans get the most from the agents and search across tools like Slack and GitHub.
Who Nirvaana is for
Nirvaana is for the student who has deadlines and promises scattered across Canvas, group chats and memory. You talk to it the way you would text a friend, and tomorrow it still knows.
It runs on Mac now, with Windows and iPhone coming soon.
Where Notion AI is genuinely better
- Working inside your pages. Notion AI edits, rewrites and organizes the pages and databases you already have. Nirvaana is not a page editor.
- Database help. Autofill and formulas inside a Notion database are built for exactly that.
- Team search. For groups that use Slack, Google Drive or GitHub, Enterprise Search looks across all of them.
- Meeting notes. AI Meeting Notes records and summarizes conversations inside Notion.
- Scheduled agents. Custom Agents run on a schedule for a team, on Business and Enterprise.
If your whole system is in Notion, these matter, and Nirvaana is not trying to replace them.
Where Nirvaana is different
Classes come in from Canvas
Connect Canvas and each class arrives with its files, its facts and every due date. Nirvaana only reads Canvas. On the pages we checked, Notion does not list an official Canvas connector.
Promises both ways
Tell Nirvaana what you promised, in your own words. It keeps each promise in view until it is done, and remembers the ones people made to you. Type "Catch me up" any morning and it tells you what is due, late things first.
Worlds you share carefully
A world is one part of your life with the people in it: a class, a club, a team. Your own world is yours alone. Nothing from it goes into a shared world until you press Approve.
Nothing outward without your yes
Nirvaana is built to stop before it sends, posts, pays, signs or deletes, and hand it to you. The check is automatic and not perfect.
Your own AI plan
Already pay for ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini? Nirvaana does its heavy work on that plan, and each result says where it ran. Nirvaana is not a model itself. See Nirvaana with Claude for more.
Helpers
Helpers are launching and not live everywhere yet. Each has one job, like keeping promises in view or teaching from your classes. They work while you are away and leave what they found for the morning. You approve what matters, and money always asks.

Using both together
If you already use Notion, you do not have to pick.
- Keep your notes and project boards in Notion, and use whatever AI your plan includes there.
- Connect Canvas to Nirvaana and let it keep your deadlines and promises in view.
- Start each morning with "Catch me up", then open Notion for the work itself.

Who should pick which
- Choose Notion AI if you live in Notion, are on or can afford a plan that includes it, and want help editing, searching and organizing there.
- Choose Nirvaana if your worry is forgetting deadlines and promises, and you want something that knows your classes without building a system.
- Use both if you want a flexible workspace and a steady memory beside it.
