Nirvaana vs Reclaim: which is better for planning your week?
The short answer
Reclaim and Nirvaana help with different parts of a busy week. Reclaim lives on your calendar and finds time for your habits, tasks and focus hours. Nirvaana keeps track of your classes, due dates and promises so you can stop holding them in your head.
If your problem is "I never find time to do the things," Reclaim is worth a look. If your problem is "I keep forgetting what I owe and what is due," Nirvaana is closer.
Who Reclaim is for
Reclaim describes itself as an AI calendar assistant that schedules work, meetings and personal time on your existing calendar. It works with Google Calendar or Outlook Calendar, and can sync several calendars across both so they do not clash.
Its main pieces, per its site:
- Habits. Recurring routines that flex and find the best time, like a workout or lunch.
- Tasks. Tasks sync into your calendar and are scheduled by priority. It connects to tools like Asana, ClickUp, Todoist, Jira, Linear and Google Tasks.
- Focus time, buffer time and smart meetings. Protected hours and help finding times that work.
It serves individuals, and also managers and larger organizations.
One piece of background: Reclaim announced on August 20, 2024 that Dropbox had acquired it, and said then that no changes to pricing or support were planned. Today the site is branded "Reclaim.ai from Dropbox" and its plans are on sale as listed below.
Who Nirvaana is for
Nirvaana is for someone with a lot of loose ends. Canvas deadlines, the reading for Thursday, the notes you promised a friend. It keeps track of all of it so your mind can rest.
It is made for one person. You talk to it like texting someone, and tomorrow it still knows.
Where Reclaim is genuinely better
- A free plan with real scheduling. Reclaim's pricing page shows a free Lite plan for one user. It includes Habits, Focus Time, Buffer Time and Smart Meetings, and supports both Google Calendar and Outlook. No credit card is needed, according to its site. Its pricing page also offers students, educators and faculty 50% off for 12 months.
- Protecting your calendar. It moves your habits and tasks around meetings automatically. Nirvaana does not build or defend your calendar.
- Task tool connections. Paid plans connect to Todoist, Asana, ClickUp, Jira and Linear.
- Teams and managers. Business and Enterprise plans add team features, delegated access and more.
If you want your hours defended, that is Reclaim's job and it is good at it.
Where Nirvaana is different
Classes from Canvas
Connect Canvas and each class you take comes in on its own, with its files, its facts and every due date. Nirvaana only reads Canvas. On any morning, type "Catch me up" and it tells you what is due, the late things first.
Promises, both ways
Tell Nirvaana what you promised, in your own words. It keeps each promise in view until it is done, and remembers the ones people made to you. Today shows what you owe and what you are owed.
Worlds you can share without oversharing
A world is one part of your life with the people in it: a class, a club, a team. Your own world is yours alone. Nothing from it goes into a shared world until you press Approve.
Your own AI plan
Already pay for ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini? Nirvaana does its heavy work on that plan, and each result says where it ran. Nirvaana is not a model itself.
Helpers
Helpers are launching but not live everywhere yet. Each has one job: one keeps promises in view, one plans meetings, one teaches from your classes. They work while you are away and leave what they found for the morning. You approve what matters. Money always asks.
