The day

Nirvaana works in days. You open it with Wake up, which brings you what is due and where you left off. You talk to it through the day. You close it with Goodnight, which looks back over the day and tidies what it learned. Then tomorrow starts clean, with everything still known.

Wake up

The first thing you see is a calm page with today's date and one large Wake up button. Press it and the sun rises while it puts the morning together. Underneath, it says I'll start with what's ripe today.

It comes back with, in its own words:

  • Promises that are open, with the late ones first.
  • Anything waiting for your yes.
  • Questions it asked you that you have not answered.
  • Where the last few days' conversations left off.

If you would rather skip it and just talk, press Straight to the day underneath. Nothing is lost by skipping it.

You can wake up to three times in a day, and there is a ten minute wait between them. If you press again too soon it says I opened the day a few minutes ago. Give it a little while before waking again. After the third it says That's this morning woken 3 times. The next one is tomorrow's.

Pressing Wake up again after the day is already open just reopens this morning. It does not start over.

The conversation

Type in the box at the bottom and press Send, or just press Enter. To write a second line without sending, hold Shift and press Enter. The reply is set as plain text, not speech bubbles, because most of it is worth reading properly.

While it works, the Nirvaana mark sits where its reply will appear: the sun rises over the horizon and the rings build. If it calls on a keeper, that keeper's bee flies along the same line beside it, with its name, until its part is back. When it uses something, it tells you in your words rather than technical ones: Kept that., Noted the promise., Looked through what I know., Left a question open for tomorrow.

One message at a time. If you send another while it is still answering, it says I'm still on your last message.

What is on the right

Four panels, each showing your real rows or saying plainly that it has none. Above them is a drawing called The computer, marked arrives soon; it is a preview of something not built, and the senses and hands page says what it will be.

  • Ripe today — promises that are late or due within the week. Both kinds: what you owe, and what someone owes you.
  • Waiting on your ✅ — things it thinks belong in a world you share with other people. ✅ names who would see it and asks again; Not this one keeps it to you. The card can also show the words a fact came from, though no suggested fact carries them yet.
  • Kept today — what it wrote down today, privately.
  • It can — the ways in you have built together.

On a phone these sit below the conversation. Scroll down to see them.

Goodnight

Goodnight is the small button at the top of the screen. Press it and it says Looking back over today. Then it does two things:

  1. It tidies today's memory. Where it wrote the same thing twice, or wrote something that has since changed, it merges them into one. Nothing is deleted; the old version is marked as replaced.
  2. It reads back over the day's conversation, your open promises and its own open questions, and tells you where things stand.

Goodnight happens once a day. Press it again the same evening and it simply reopens tonight's review rather than doing it twice.

What carries over

Everything that matters, and nothing you have to manage:

  • Facts it kept. It searches them by meaning, not by exact words.
  • Promises, until they are done, broken or let go.
  • Questions it left open, which it raises again tomorrow morning.
  • How you like to be written to.

What does not carry over is scrollback. There is no sidebar of past chats, on purpose: the promise is that you should not have to go hunting through old conversations for something it should simply know. For now you will see a short Earlier list of recent conversations under a new day, and you can open one.

One conversation per daynot built yet

The plan is that a day is exactly one conversation, from Wake up to Goodnight, with the Earlier list gone. Today a day can still hold several conversations, and that list is still there.

The strip at the top, and the way home

The thin strip across the top is on every page. On the left is today's date, read from your own device, so it is your day and not a server's. Next to it is the horizon: your own world in the middle, and every world you are in around it. Goodnight, the Night or Dawn switch, Help and Sign out sit at the end.

When you leave the day for a world's page or your list of worlds, the small line over the date changes to Back to today. Press the date, or your own world in the middle of the horizon, and you are back in the day. No page under the strip is a dead end.

Dawn and Night

The small Night or Dawn button at the top switches between light and dark. It is your choice, not your phone's: Nirvaana never switches on you because the sun went down.
